About DAO and The Future of Organization

DAOstack is an operating system for a new type of organization.
DAO. Decentralized governments have envisioned the best minds in the blockchain space. But despite the promise, it still remains an abstract idea. One key failure point is that there is no robust framework for decentralized blockchain governance. Arc, the foundation of the DAO stack, is an open and universal framework for smart contracts for distributed management and collective value management of blockchains. Just as HTTP allows the creation and interoperability of Web sites and Web applications, DAOstack allows for the creation and interoperability of web companies, collaborative applications and DAOs and permits alignment of interests. As a result, the community has created a new web of open collaboration that can go beyond pure economic growth and organize itself around common goals and values. We believe it will be an important step in the evolution of society towards a more cooperative and sustainable future.

The governance protocol embedded in the smart contract ofan agency can beanything one can come up with. A simple example is a proposal-based governance system, with a yes/no majority vote on proposals needed for
approval and execution (which are one action in smart companies). Proposals might be about token distribution, for example, and votes can be weighted by the voter reputation. We will give a handful of other examples ​in ​the ​next ​chapter. ​In ​a ​heuristic ​visualization ​it ​could ​look ​like ​this:

THE ARC FRAMEWORK
Arc is an evolutionary framework for scalable governance

ADAPTIVE
Arc supports an infinite number of governance elements. Its library of schemes and global constraints will evolve as the DAOstack ecosystem grows, with new templates and modules development and added by the open source development community and third parties.

MODULAR
Every DAO's governance structure is made of small building blocks - governance modules, or elements - that can easily be added, combined, edited or removed. Modules do not need to be redeployed to the blockchain, but rather only referred to, saving storage and operation costs and enhancing security.

UPGRADABLE
The governance structure of each DAO can easily be upgraded to use new schemes and constraints, or different parameters of existing ones. More granularly, each DAO created through Arc comes with a particular set of rules, which by default includes the rules to change the rules.

ECONOMY

DAOstack runs on GEN

GEN is the native token of the DAOstack platform. Basic operations across the DAOstack ecosystem - such as promoting proposals - will require the spending or holding of GEN. GEN will be distributed to the contributors of value through the DAOstack framework itself, incentivizing development, promotion and adoption
